How this works

What we do
Ratelens collects publicly visible listing data from Amazon India and Flipkart, matches listings that are the same physical product, and shows what each platform claims about it — selling price, declared MRP, rating distribution and per-aspect scores — side by side.
How we decide two listings are the same product
We match on brand plus the manufacturer's model code, extracted from the product title. A pair is only treated as the same product when both listings declare a model code and those codes agree. Where both declare codes that differ, we treat that as positive evidence of different products and reject the pair rather than guess.
This is deliberately conservative. An unmatched product costs a missing comparison; a wrongly matched one produces a false claim, which is worse.
What an MRP mismatch means
MRP in India is a declared maximum retail price under the Legal Metrology Act — a property of the product, not of the shop. Two retailers may charge different prices, but they should not publish different MRPs for the same item.
Where we report a mismatch, it means at least one of the two declared figures is wrong, because a single product cannot have two maximum retail prices. It does not tell you which platform is wrong, and it does not establish intent — a figure may be stale, a variant mismatch, or a seller-entered value never corrected. What it does mean is that a "% off" calculated from these figures is not a reliable guide to whether a price is good.
Listings that appear to be multipacks or bundles are excluded from mismatch reporting, because a bundle legitimately carries a multiple of the single-unit MRP.
What we do not do
We do not sell anything, hold stock, process payments or handle returns. Every purchase happens on the retailer's own site under their terms.
We do not store the text of customer reviews or the names of reviewers. Where we show review information it is derived — a rating distribution or a per-aspect score — not reproduced content.
Accuracy
Prices and MRP are observed on the dates shown and change frequently, often several times a day. Always confirm the current figure on the retailer's site before buying. If you spot something wrong, please tell us.
