The listings that sell at their full MRP

· by

We track 361 listings that declare an MRP. Most of them carry a discount, on all three sites. The median discount is between 25% and 28% on each site.

Eleven of the 361 sell at exactly their MRP, with no discount at all. Ten of those eleven sit on the same site. Each of the ten was listed lower on another site on 11 September 2026. Nine of them have not moved off the MRP price on any day we have checked.

Selling at MRP is completely legal. A shop may price anywhere up to the printed maximum, and none of them is obliged to discount. This page is not about anyone breaking a rule. It is about what a discount badge trains you to expect, and what happens on the listings that do not carry one.

The ten

Product Listing at MRP Lowest listing that day
Havells HS6000 straightening brush ₹3,795 Nykaa ₹2,025 Flipkart
Havells GS6451 grooming kit ₹3,495 Nykaa ₹2,000 Flipkart
Philips HP6388 epilator ₹2,195 Nykaa ₹1,357 Amazon
Healthsense ET730 thermometer ₹1,800 Nykaa ₹988 Flipkart
Havells HD3151 hair dryer ₹1,695 Nykaa ₹954 Amazon
Braun BT3221 beard trimmer ₹2,489 Nykaa ₹1,749 Flipkart
Braun MGK7450 grooming kit ₹5,999 Nykaa ₹5,399 Flipkart
Healthsense PC860 body analyser ₹2,000 Nykaa ₹1,412 Flipkart
Havells HC4045 hair clipper ₹3,695 Nykaa ₹3,149 Flipkart
Philips QP210 one blade trimmer ₹899 Nykaa ₹838 Flipkart

On 11 September 2026, the gap between the listing at MRP and the lowest listing ran from ₹61 to ₹1,770.

Four brands are involved, not one: Havells four times, Braun and Philips and Healthsense twice each. So this is not a single brand's pricing policy showing through.

The shape is unusual

What makes this worth a page is not that some listings cost more. It is that the pattern is split rather than spread.

Of the 53 listings we track that declare an MRP on the site where the ten sit:

Discount Listings
More than 10% off 42
Between 1% and 10% off 1
No discount at all 10

There is almost nothing in the middle. A listing is either discounted properly or not discounted at all.

The median discount on that site is in line with the other two. So this is not a story about one site being broadly dearer. Most of its listings carry a discount. A small group does not.

Why this probably happens

We do not know, and the ordinary explanations are enough on their own.

A different commercial arrangement. The seller behind a listing, and the terms it was put up under, are not visible from the page.

Brand controlled pricing. Some brands set a floor for some channels. That would look exactly like this from outside.

A smaller catalogue that moves less often. We see 53 listings on that site against 196 on another. A smaller, slower catalogue produces more prices that simply sit where they were set.

Nobody revisited it. The dullest explanation and often the right one.

What this does not show

  • Anything improper. Selling at MRP is legal and always has been. This entire page describes lawful pricing.
  • That one site is dearer overall. Its median discount is in line with the other two. The finding is about a small group, not the average.
  • A large sample. Fifty-three listings on one site is small, and these are personal care appliances only. A different category could look nothing like this.
  • A permanent state. Prices move. Nine of the ten have held so far, but that is across weeks, not years.

What to do about it

A listing with no discount badge is not a bad deal by definition. Plenty of fair prices carry no badge. But the absence of a badge is also the one case where nothing on the page is inviting you to compare, which is exactly when comparing pays.

The rule that covers it is the same one that covers everything else here. Check the rupee figure on a second site before you buy, not the percentage on the first one.
